The Kyrgyz State National University (KSNU) was the dream of a dedicated group of educators and academicians who sought to create an internationally respected institution of higher learning in the Kyrgyz Republic. In keeping with the importance placed upon education in the nation’s culture, the University was intended to serve as a center for intellectual synthesis and the creation of new ideas.

The founders envisioned that the University would focus on research and education in several key areas in the humanities, sciences, and technology. They sought to encourage research in science and engineering in order to place the Kyrgyz Republic on a competitive level with the rest of the developed world.

The University was also seen as central to the beneficial transformation of the nation’s laws as the Kyrgyz Republic plays an increasingly important role in international affairs. As the legal interrelationships between trade partners and other nations become more complex, effort and resources must be dedicated to addressing important policy concerns within the law. The University hopes to serve an important position in the judicial system by training future educators, lawyers, and judges and providing them with necessary tools for learning and research.
